Sultan Mosque

Sultan Mosque is a majestic landmark in Singapore’s Kampong Glam district, known for its grand golden domes and vibrant architecture. Built in 1824, it was named after Sultan Hussein Shah, the first sultan of Singapore. It’s a significant place of worship for the Muslim community and is considered the national mosque of Singapore. The mosque’s design is influenced by the Indo-Saracenic style, featuring two eye-catching golden onion domes and minarets. The base of each dome is decorated with glass bottle ends, representing contributions from both wealthy and poor Muslims during the mosque’s construction. The mosque was inaugurated on 27 December 1936. In 1975, it was designated a national monument.
